Gel Stained Bathroom Vanity

Hey guys!

I wanted to show you my latest project, our bathroom vanity!

Here is what it looked like before, a total bland fest!

(I obviously didn’t use that Valspar cabinet paint, I wanted something that I didn’t have to sand down, and when I tried this product, it didn’t adhere to the finish that the cabinet had on it-thus why I went with the gel stain 😜)
If I’m being honest, when we moved in this was the one room we wanted to leave completely how it was! But as we lived in it, I realized just how boring it was. For months, I read about this gel stain from General Finishes. I kept going onto their website and putting it in my cart, but never had the guts to buy it!
Well, I’m happy to say that I not only bought it but completed the project completely. I have to say, this stuff is the SHIZ! It goes on like paint, which is what I like most about it. It is smelly, but not overbearing. My husband had more of an issue with it than I did, which is rare. 😂
Anywho, I started out by taking off by hardware and cleaning the entire vanity. After that, it’s basically self explanatory! It required two coats, and after each coat I waited 24 hours before applying the next. Once it had the two coats on it, we waited about 36 hours before using it as usual.

This wasn’t the best “how-to” post, it was more of a “I finally did this” post! Hopefully I will motivate someone else like me to go ahead and take the plunge!
